About

I’m Christine, and I’m proving that you don’t need acres to live a more self-sufficient lifestyle. I started growing herbs, strawberries, and lettuce on the window sills of my 8th floor high rise apartment in the heart of Los Angeles 15 years ago in an effort to garden with what little space I had.

On my quarter acre homestead about 40 minutes outside of Hollywood, I raise chickens, grow herbs, veggies, and fruit, and experiment with sustainable living-while being a busy mom that balances (or tries to) work and family. I’m nowhere near completing my homestead vision, but I am committed to living this lifestyle in as many ways as possible.

Here you’ll find practical, realistic guides for anyone who wants to start homesteading right where they are. Whether you’re in an apartment dreaming of chickens or already digging in your backyard, you’re in the right place.
